What the professionals say
I am a Chartered Paediatric Clinical Neuropsychologist and Clinical Psychologist.
I specialise in providing community-based neuropsychological rehabilitation services for children and young people after acquired brain injury. I work with adults, children and adolescents from a diverse range of backgrounds, across a variety of inpatient, outpatient and community settings.
As a result of their injuries, many of my patients have severe and persistent physical impairments and require interventions involving splinting and serial casting. They may need these for many years, sometimes persisting into adulthood. Having to wear a cast and feeling like they stand out to peers can be really detrimental to self-esteem and body image. Supersleeves are a fantastic innovation, not only from a practical point of view, i.e. keeping bandaging clean and hygienic, but also to help a patient feel better about the way they look, when undergoing treatment. Supersleeves therefore have the potential for a positive impact on emotional well-being; I recommend them to all families and professionals that I encounter who might benefit.
